With over 200 hours contributed by volunteers, we at Cesar Chavez Celebration of Mesa County are proud of the impact we continue to make in our community.
Our main event brings our community’s diverse partners, programs, and law enforcement together in unity. This event offers our youth education opportunities, allows us to re-stock the food bank for our migrant workers, and focuses on the wellness not just of the individual, but of the community as a whole.
This event is the largest fundraiser for the Child and Migrant Center in Palisade, Colorado. Cesar Chavez said, "It is not about lettuce or grapes. The fight has always been about the people.” We provide food for the Migrant center because we want to ensure we support the people who work to bring food to all of our tables.
Each year, our committee offers chrome books and scholarships to deserving Mesa County youth. We do this because we realize that our mission to bring awareness and fight for equity of all can not be won without the support and efforts of our youth.
Cesar Chavez Celebration of Mesa County is proud to be working on raising funds to meet the required monetary minimums to offer the first-ever Cesar Chavez Endowed Fund. This will allow our organization to expand our reach and assistance for youth in their educational pursuits.
We were honored to be a recipient of the Colorado Equity Compass Grant. Cesar Chavez Celebration of Mesa County is currently working with selected families on filming videos discussing our local community inequalities and how we can help bridge the gap.
Cesar Chavez Celebration of Mesa county is a registered 501c3 non-profit. We currently have five volunteer board members and eight volunteer committee members. Our members give over 200 hours a year to this event.
Founder and Chairperson- Jose Luis Chavez describes these volunteers as “compassionate caring individuals, who are involved because they know our event helps our community as a whole; not just Latino but all community members.”
